why we workshop

in creative design industries, the presentation of our work has always been important. it's not just about showcasing the final product either, it's to walk side-by-side with you through the journey, building context together and creating human connection.

while sending designs digitally might seem convenient (most clients are so eager and can’t wait), there's more value - to our clients and us - in presenting designs live, and engaging in real-time. it deepens the creative process and leads to a superior outcome.

just as we spend an hour with you at the discovery session to understand you and your garden’s needs, the presentations allow us to address concerns, iterate on ideas, and arrive at better design solutions. when we ‘present’ it’s more of a design workshop, than a show and tell - we develop relationships that capture nuances, encourage dialogue, build confidence, and create a memorable experience. here’s why:

  1. clear communication

presenting designs enables clearer, direct communication. this eliminates the ambiguity that often accompanies static files, where interpretations may vary. we articulate the vision, reveal design decisions, and provide context in real-time. we can also pick up on non-verbal cues such as facial expressions and tone of voice, which enhance understanding and ensure that messages are conveyed accurately. design is not about visuals; it's about storytelling, emotion, and intention.

  2. immediate feedback

one of the most significant advantages is that we receive your raw, unfiltered, feedback. if a written email is valuable, then immediate and instinctive reactions are practically gold dust; they helps us understand your emotional responses deeply; we learn what you love, or want to change. this helps remove the subjectivity of design too. you’ll find our workshops encourage open dialogue and constructive criticism. this dynamic exchange of ideas sparks creativity and pushes innovation for your garden. don’t worry, we also leave space for you to add comments on the design, after the workshop too.

  3. efficiency:

presenting designs via video call streamlines the review process, providing efficiency and shorter timeframes for you. rather than exchanging multiple rounds of emails or waiting for written responses, we address most comments during the presentation. we know you’ll want to digest the design and share it afterwards, but that first reaction saves time and moves the project forward towards construction.

  4. design confidence:

there’s something exciting about working live - it’s one of the best parts of the process. witnessing clients’ faces light up, hearing excitement, and engaging in real-time debate humanises the design and builds trust. presenting designs builds confidence, meaning you get the best out of us. it requires us to articulate our thought process, defend our decisions, express complex ideas with clarity, and handle critiques graciously. this confidence not only elevates design workshops, it also translates into other aspects of the work such as design guardianship and monitoring the contractor.

it helps that we live in a day and age where we can work digitally and remotely, but it increasingly feels impersonal. WILDEN lives in that perfect hybrid: real-life relationships, backed-up by appropriate technology.

this isn’t about presenting our work; it's about our shared passion for nature and collaboration with you. let's connect, inspire, and innovate together.
